CBD For Back Spasms

Cannabidiol, or CBD oil, is oil extracted from the cannabis plant, and studies have found that it’s effective in the treatment of many medical conditions. Some consider this treatment controversial, however, so it’s important to note that CBD oil contains no or very little THC — the ingredient that produces the “high” sensation often associated with cannabis.

Studies have found CBD oil is effective in the treatment of pain, anxiety, depression, cancer symptoms, acne, high blood pressure, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. Unlike many other treatment methods for these conditions, it has almost no side effects and risk of overdose is minimal to non-existent. Because CBD oil contains no or very little THC it can be used before driving, when working, or studying and does not negatively impact your functioning or daily life because you will not get the “high” feeling.

You may feel a sense of calm, however. Studies have also shown that regular, daily CBD oil use can contribute to improved mood, productivity, motivation, and relaxation. While research into this is still ongoing, early results have been promising, with patients and medical professionals reporting positive effects in addition to successful treatment of conditions.

CBD for chronic pain

One of the most common uses for CBD oil is in chronic pain management. Many patients are reluctant to take traditional pain relief due to side effects and risk of addiction. Overdose is also another commonly feared risk in many standard pain treatments, especially those with an opioid base. CBD oil is vastly different to these other methods for the following reasons.

Firstly, there is no risk of overdose with CBD oil. No matter how much you take, no study has ever found any risk of overdose. It contains no hard or potentially harmful chemicals and is therefore safe to take in even the largest quantities. Secondly, there are no side effects. Again, because CBD oil does not consist of harsh chemicals and is mostly a natural product, studies have found that there is no risk of harmful side effects, even when used in large doses. Thirdly, it is not addictive. CBD oil does not contain THC, and therefore will not produce a “high” feeling so there is no fear of patients becoming addicted.

CBD for back spasms and pain

Back spasms can be utterly crippling, and for people that suffer with these regularly, strong, chemical pain relief has traditionally been the only option. While physiotherapy can assist, it can be challenging to manage such chronic and frequent pain without some form of medication. The good news for those who suffer chronic back spasms is that CBD oil has been found to be highly effective in alleviating their symptoms.

CBD oil can be taken in a variety of different ways. For back spasms, patients will usually use a combination of two of these methods: topical and sublingual. Topical refers to rubbing CBD oil directly onto the skin on the affected area. You can simply use your hands, gloves, and special applicators are not even required, and massage the oil onto your skin over where you are feeling the pain. Sublingual dosages are placing a few drops of CBD oil under your tongue, allowing it to sit for up to 30 seconds and then swallowing it. If you prefer the sublingual method, there is more good news. You can buy CBD oil in flavours so that taking it in this way also offers a pleasant taste.

If you suffer chronic back spasms, you owe it to yourself to talk to your doctor about CBD oil as a possible treatment. It could dramatically change the way you manage your pain and ultimately your life.
