What is CBD?

Before we take a look at the pros and cons of using CBD oil, it is important to begin by understanding exactly what CBD is and how it works. CBD is a compound in the cannabinoid family. It is just one of 108 different compounds found in the cannabis plant.

One of the things that is important to note if you ware going to dispel the wave of suspicion surrounding CBD is that CBD doesn’t have any psychedelic properties. This means that it will not get you high. The compound in cannabis that gets you high is THC and most CBD products have a very tiny amount if THC in them.

To alleviate pain, anxiety or any of the other illnesses that CBD has been known to cure or treat, CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. This is the regulatory mechanism that is made up of cannabis like molecules (endocannabinoids). These act as neurotransmitters, transferring signals to maintain the body’s homeostasis.

Advantages of CBD Oil

Now that we are clear on how CBD works, let’s take a look at some of its positives. The following are some of the reasons you should consider CBD Oil if you haven’t already;

It is 100% Natural

CBD and other cannabinoids are derived from naturally occurring compounds in cannabis and hemp plants. That said, it is important to make sure that the supplier you choose grows their plants in a natural and organic environment without relying on pesticides or herbicides. If they don’t grow their own plants, ask them where they get their plants.

Numerous Health Benefits

CBD oil can be used both internally and externally with numerous health benefits. CBD has been used to alleviate pain and anxiety with amazing results. Research has also proven that it can be helpful in the treatment and prevention of acne, alleviating cancer-related symptoms and many more.

Most CBD oil products in the market contain a negligible amount of THC. You therefore will not get high from using CBD oil.

100% Legal

CBD is 100% legal in all 50 states and in most EU countries.

Suitable for Children

Like most CBD products, CBD oil is safe for children. It is however a good idea to check with your doctor for the correct dosage to give to a child.

Suitable for Animals

Because animals can synthesize endocannabinoids just as humans can, CBD oil is equally safe for your pets. In fact, research has shown that CBD can relieve pain in cats and dogs much in the same way as it does for humans. But again, it is important to check with your vet for the proper dosage before administering CBD oil to your pet.
