Do You Get High Off CBD Oil?
Get High Off CBD Oil
There’s a lot of conflicting information in our world with regards to medical cannabis and cannabinoids. Many websites will state that you can still get high off the CBD oil, however many others will say the opposite. Before you make a decision against CBD oil, why not take a moment to learn a little more about it? In addition to educating you on what exactly it is, we also want to ask the question: do you get high off CBD oil?
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a natural compound found in cannabis and hemp. In fact, it is one of hundreds of compounds found in the plant, but it’s also the one that receives the most attention because of its variety of healing and medicinal properties. More and more companies have started infusing products like lotions, creams, and oils with it.
However, it’s commonly confused with another popular compound in cannabis and hemp — THC. This stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, and it’s the natural compound responsible for getting high and causing psychoactive effects when cannabis is smoked or consumed.
The difference between these two compounds is that CBD doesn’t cause a high like THC does. In fact, CBD has no psychoactive effects on people.
Why do people assume CBD gets you high?
The simple answer here is association. Both THC and CBD occur naturally in the plant, and since cannabis is associated with the psychoactive effects of getting high, it’s easy to assume that all of the compounds within the plant can contribute to this.
CBD is often isolated as a compound and uses medicinally, and it can have some great health benefits. However, it’s often if not always infused in edibles, oils, and other products without the THC. This, again, leads to guilt of association. Remember — CBD does not cause a high on its own.
This is further evidenced by the fact that CBD can be harvested from hemp, a product that has absolutely no psychoactive abilities and cannot get you high. Many places will only allow medical CBD to be sourced from hemp, and those that are not can only have a THC content of 0.3 — not nearly enough to feel even a slight buzz.
Can you get high from CBD?
No, you can’t get high from CBD. It can cause you to feel more relaxed and is often used for stress or anxiety, however, this is not the same as experiencing a high. Similarly, if you take too much CBD you will likely feel uplifted and more carefree. Again, this is not a “high”.
A high dose of CBD is actually more likely to cause some unpleasant side effects as opposed to that uplifting feeling, so it’s not even worth the risk. Some of these effects include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and dry mouth. Always consult your doctor and do you research about dosage before taking CBD.
What are the Health Benefits of CBD?
CBD has many potential health benefits, including:
- Reducing stress and anxiety relief
- Easing pain and inflammation
- Offering relief for seizures, epilepsy, and the side effects of antipsychotic medications
To Conclude
The good news is that you can’t get high from CBD, but you may feel more relaxed when you take it. CBD oil is legal across much of the world, helping people to fight pain and inflammation as well as escape some of the stress and panics that come with everyday life.
