Is CBD Oil Good for People with Tourette’s?

Researchers are continually proving the health benefits of CBD when it comes to epilepsy and Tourettes. 

Tourettes is a neurological condition that is characterized by vocal or motor tics. 

The motor tics are abrupt and can be repetitive movements. 

Some of the simple motor tics may include persistent neck stretching, blinking, and shrugging. 

The trouble is complications can arise when these ticks like jaw clenching become awkward in a social situation. 

Vocal tics may range from repeating a part of another person’s phrasing. It could also entail spontaneous repetition of taboo or vulgar words.

It means it would inhibit the reabsorption of the anandamide, which increases the endocannabinoid levels. Anandamide is a cannabis-like chemical within the brain, which is very strong. 

The inhibition of the reabsorption of anandamide builds up within the synapses of the brain. The brain has neuroprotective effects against muscle spasms, tics, and seizures. 

Fortunately, the FDA has approved CBD for the treatment of epilepsy because of its anti-seizure properties and the low risk of adverse side effects, which is not the case in the majority of drugs that are recommended for the symptoms. 

Other Medical Benefits of CBD

It has been found out that CBD has also been linked to helping with obsessive-compulsive disorders and ADHD, which tend to have tics as symptoms. Tourettes comes along with several behavioral issues. 

These include Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). 

The condition is characterized by repetitive behavior where the patients feel the need to continually do certain routines because they believe it has a bearing on their life. 

Though initially, the obsessive rituals are an extension of the tics, they may, in time, affect the person’s quality of life.  

CBD doses have been known to alleviate these conditions in children and young adults. The result has been an improvement in their quality of life. 

CBD helps in the regulation of the endocannabinoid system. 

It is not just with the tics but with the other mental problems that come along with neurological conditions. 

There have been several accounts where people feel like new individuals after they try CBD though researchers are still considering the reasons why CBD has this effect.
